Engineering leader with 13 years in IT - QA, software development, DevOps and data platforms - and seven of them in platform and DevOps engineering, including nearly 4 years leading teams of 2 to 5. My career has been spent removing friction from other engineers' daily work: rebuilding CI, standing up self-serve data platforms, moving products from on-prem to SaaS. Platform engineering is the discipline of un-siloing an organization - that is where I want to operate next, with the hands-on depth to stay credible with the engineers doing the work.

How I Lead

AI has removed most of the technical constraints my teams used to hit. The ones that remain are human: cross-team communication, role composition, organizational silos. AI can quietly make those worse - it answers confidently without the organizational context a colleague would have supplied, replacing the conversation that would have surfaced it. I see this daily, in misalignment between development teams and my ops team. My job is to keep AI a business accelerator rather than a fragmenting force: shared standards, deliberate cross-team contact, and never letting throughput gains outrun a team's shared understanding.

Senior DevOps Engineer - de facto Ops team lead

Context: Ops team inside a 30+ person program rewriting a monolith into event-driven, multi-tenant .NET microservices.
Owned:
  • Interviewing candidates for the team's open roles
  • Technical roadmap, delivery and priorities for the Ops team
  • Incident response process and blameless postmortems
  • Team-wide AI usage standards, tooling decision and rollout
  • Team process - transitioned the team from Scrum to Kanban
  • Mentoring of 2 junior engineers
  • Challenge architecture decisions with the development teams: service granularity, CloudNativePG's multi-tenancy model, microservices versus a modular monolith.
  • Rebuilt CI from legacy VM agents to ephemeral Kubernetes runners: build time from 40 min to 5 min.
  • Halved release-to-production time, from half a day to 1h.
  • Built an ephemeral environment factory (vcluster / Kubernetes) to move product and engineering review out of Sprint review and into the build: each environment is provisioned from the existing GitOps config and shared as a single URL, with its own Grafana and ArgoCD behind Entra SSO.
  • Hardened CloudNativePG with auto-provisioning for new SaaS tenants, and moved from a single to multiple production environments for dedicated-tier customers.
  • Introduced AI-assisted code review as a team process rather than an individual habit, on a team where half the engineers are juniors, and produce the program's architecture diagrams, documentation and stakeholder decks with it.
  • Team throughput increased sharply while juniors continued to follow every change made to the platform - held as a deliberate constraint on how fast the platform was allowed to evolve.

  • Initiated Data Mesh governance, enabling 3 development teams to self-serve their own bronze-to-silver data zones - shifting my team from pipeline builders to platform providers with internal customers.
  • Cut ETL pipeline delivery from 2 months to 3 weeks - through repository splitting, automation, data pipeline templating and challenging the inherited tech stack - across 30+ pipelines and 40+ tables serving 10+ business teams.
  • Pushed the central Ops team to act as a platform enabler rather than an approval gate, securing the autonomy my team needed to ship independently.

  • Drove the on-prem to Azure SaaS transition for the FIM product, from single-tenant environment design through deployment and supervision.
  • Reduced monthly infrastructure costs by 30% through standardization and optimization.
  • Enabled infrastructure changes to deploy across 15+ environments, dev to prod, in 20 minutes using Terraform and GitLab CI.
  • Automated tenant environment deployment from 1 day to 1h.
  • Completed two source-control migrations: TFS to GitLab for 15 developers across development and QA, and Azure DevOps to GitLab for the Cloud team.
  • Ran the technical enablement the SaaS transition depended on, working directly with the software architects and product teams: Git and distributed version control, RESTful service design, cloud concepts.
